SOLD! Hear Me Roar
Sold on 11/15/20!
When creating this shawl, I thought about Katy Perry's powerful hit, Roar. I just rewatched the video, and it triggered memories of 1995, the summer before I turned the big "40." One Saturday afternoon, I went shopping at Palladio, a funky upscale boutique that was tucked into a Superior Street corner where Maurice's now dominates Duluth's skyline. After commiserating with the style expert on ending my birthdays at Jack Benny's age of 39, I fell in love with a black, non-traditional take on a business suit. She assured me that the bold tiger-design collar was not "too young" for the sharp career turn I was just beginning. One of the few times I paid full price. Whenever I wore that outfit, my confidence soared. And years later, Katy Perry captured in Roar the inner struggle I still face at times to be my most confident self. It's been so gratifying to now have the time to express emotions through photography and felting. Here's hoping wearing this playful scarf triggers happy memories, while building expectations for satisfying new adventures.
The fabric is created through the nuno wet felting process, which combines silk fabric with fine layers of merino wool and bits of bamboo.
Inspired by the inner tiger in all of us.
