If you drive around northern Minnesota in June, you can't miss the stately lupines. Just when Duluth seasonal garden centers get ready to close, the lupines begin displaying their purple palette along the roadsides. You just have to pull over and get out the camera. This scarf reminds me of the lupine purple dance, with the multi-colored novelty yarn meandering through the design providing texture and continuity in this one-of-a-kind garment. The scarf is created through the nuno wet felting process, which combines silk fabric with fine layers of merino wool and bits of bamboo, silk and colorful embellishments.
Inspired by the lupines that carpet roadsides each June in the Duluth area.
